Down the Dnieper River

Saturday afternoon we took a river boat down the Dniper River in Kyiv. It is the largest river in Ukraine and the third largest in Europe. It is the “holy river” of Ukraine. The river is the artery of Ukraine, its main highway and its source of hydroelectric power. I'm still not sure what all we saw along the shores but someone in the group read that one of the bridges we past under has been unfinished for the last 10 years. We went in the locks and were lifted by water to enter the man made sea of Kyiv. The water looked kind of gross and I was surprised to see people fishing in it...some of them were quiet entertaining. While on this adventure I felt like trying a highly popular Ukrainian snack...Chips! But not just any chips...lol...there were a few flavors to choose from but I tried the red caviar and passed them around to everyone. Our tour guide told us they were extremely popular but I didn't find them so great. They didn't taste like fish but they did taste funky!
