Located just down the street from our Hotel. When the monument of Saint Prince Vladimir, the Chrisener of Rus was created the reigious Kyivans were worried he would himself become an idol like those he destroyed. The Cathedral was constructed in monumental Byzantium style crowned with 13 domes. However lack of finances reduced it to 7 domes. Constuction began in 1862. When it came time to attach the domes it turned out that their weight could not be supported and it took until 1875 to find a solution.
This is just down the street from our hotel and is one of the things I can see from my room!
