People were living on the territory of Kyiv as far back as 20 thousand years ago. Ukraine has been independent for only the last 19 years and a few small periods in between. The flourishing of Kyiv is credited to Prince Vladimir Sviatoslavovich and his son, Yaroslav the Wise. Yaroslav carried out major construction projects, created the first Legal Code and founded the first library. Prince Vladimir is also known for bringing Christianity to Kyiv by way of the Eastern Orthodox priest from Constantinople. I will be adding seperate entries about what we have seen on our tours and what not!
